About

My name is Nick van Vugt. I’m a recent M.A. graduate of the Communication and New Media program at McMaster University. My Major Research Project, “The Art of Dreaming” as well as my research paper that accompanies the film can be found here on my website.

I have also graduated from McMaster with an honours B.A. in Multimedia with a minor in Theatre and Film. Feel free to view my fourth year thesis project: Extrasensory. You can find the majority of my past work uploaded on this website on my “Portfolio” page. Each video and image is linked directly to this site.

As for the casual part of this “About Me”, I can say that I’m also a film enthusiast. I love films and have a growing collection of DVDs and Blu-rays. I don’t have a “favourite” film or director, but I really enjoy films by Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, David Lynch, Spike Jonze, Pixar, Judd Apatow, and Wes Anderson. I also watch a lot of TV shows. Currently I’m really into Fringe, Tim and Eric: Awesome Show, Great Job! Party Down, and most recently – Doctor Who. I’m a proper Whovian now and even have my own sonic screwdriver.

Other than that I spend a lot of time with my girlfriend, Megan, or at home sitting in front of a computer or playing guitar. Due to obvious circumstances, I was recently forced to leave my job at Blockbuster Video Canada after nearly seven and a half years of service. I’m now eagerly awaiting new opportunities!
